Open the Boxes will invite two Tate Archivists, Clare Sexton and Peter Eaves, to join students interrogating the archiving process in their practice. The group will open archive boxes, and open then the conversation. The boxes will be physical embodiments of one’s journey as archivist. This ritual mechanism will trigger lines of inquiry, engaging a conversation challenging our different approaches, questions and responses, according to one’s own archiving methodology and reflexion. The participants will exchange ideas, references, procedures, items and found material in order to expand the dialogue around the archiving process.
