A printed publication format that coexists alongside content-free, Visual Communication’s digital “portal into a world of thinking and making”. The publication will be produced twice a year to coincide with the WIP show, and the Final show.
Content-Full
‘Content-Full’ means just that: a publication full of content. Free at the point of demand, and full of expression and opinion. It is a printed portal into a world of thinking and making. It is an editioned archive of reflection and activity. It is the place where the students and staff from the Visual Communication programme at the RCA can freely contribute ‘content’, and where visitors are free to browse and interact with what they find.
In the electronic era, with its limitless landscapes demanding to be filled, content has become a weasel word – a generic flavourless noun that relegates words, images, sound and film as placeholder material. Our use of the word is of course, ironic. We take the view that content has to have meaning and offer engagement. Without meaning and engagement, it is just that … content.
